An unusual concept in an unusual venue made for an unforgettable experience for almost 2,000 visitors to the Festival opening day, yesterday. After their third song, the upbeat band, Dada Ante Portas had the public stomping in the aisles. On strings, wind instruments and accordion the band from Lucerne on tour presented an exciting selection of instruments from their CD "The Classics". The whole Festival marquee rocked and sang enthusiastically with the band.
Milow’s presentation began somewhat more quietly. His first two songs were exclusively guitar and vocal. Together with a woman singer and a further guitar player and singer, soft, moving songs composed the first part of his program, until towards the end when the well-known Swiss groups Ohrwürmer, You don’t know and Ayo technology ensured a tremendous atmosphere in the place. With the word "unplugged" as motto, Milow and his band stood around one microphone for the encore so that it sounded as if they were singing in a living room. This created an astounding atmosphere in the Festival marquee. However, it is not possible to do completely without technology. Instead of lighters, fans waved the display screens on mobiles and cameras as the ballads were sung! The Belgian singer and songwriter went out to frenzied applause.
With a slight delay, the second half of the Festival in the Vernissage got going with the Swiss Band, "Lunik". In a rather more intimate atmosphere, the band moved the 400 fans with their unusual songs. Even the short power failure, which meant that for a time only certain instruments could be heard, contributed to unplugged also at midnight. "The rest is silence" whispered singer Jaël into the mike.
